Team competitions, tables and cups

Four of the five tournament types are about teams rather than individual players. They share two building blocks: a roster of teams, and a line-up of games that decides each tie. This page covers all four. To create the tournament itself, see Create and set up a tournament.

The four team formats are:

• team competition — a single tie between two teams.
• series table — a league: a standings table built from many team competitions over a season.
• team cup — a knockout bracket of team ties.
• team series — every team plays every other team once.

The team roster

Each team tournament has a roster of teams (its team entries). Open the team entries page to:

• click add team to put a team on the roster. Pick a team already used in this competition, or create a new one, and optionally name a contact — the team leader.
• edit or remove an entry later.

The bracket positions, the standings and the line-ups all draw from this roster, so set it up first.

Teams belong to this competition. The list you pick from holds the teams used here — for a table, cup or series that means the whole competition and all its rounds, so you don't set them up again for each round. Editing a team's name or logo updates it everywhere in this competition, and only here — other competitions keep their own teams. A team that is still on a roster can't be deleted; remove its entry first.

The line-up

A tie between two teams is decided by a line-up (the series match setup) — a fixed set of games, such as a men's singles, a men's doubles, a women's singles, and so on. You pick the line-up when you create the tournament. The team that wins the most games wins the tie, and the team score you see is the number of games each side has won.

Team competition

A single team competition shows the two teams and the running score. Set the players for each game in the line-up and score them like any other match. The tie is decided once one team has won enough games. You can also let team leaders submit their players in advance — see Team line-ups.

Series table

A series table collects many team competitions into one standings table over a season. Use the add tab to add each round (a sub-tournament) with its date, the hometeam and awayteam, and the line-up. As results come in, the table updates automatically.

You choose how points are awarded with the series table type in settings — default (win = 2, draw = 1, loss = 0), SBL 2021 (a golden set adds a point) or simple (win = 1). You can also hide the table with show series table to show only the schedule.

Team cup

A team cup is a knockout bracket of team ties. Add your teams to the roster first, then click a bracket position to open edit bracket match and choose the hometeam and awayteam for that slot. Each tie is a team competition; the winner advances to the next round, and the champion appears at the top.

Set the number of teams when you create the cup, or change it later in settings. Making the bracket smaller deletes matches that no longer fit.

Team series

A team series is an all-play-all: every team meets every other team once. Add teams to the roster and Scoreboard Live generates the matches for you, keeping a standings table of wins and losses. You need at least two teams to start.
